About Waikite Valley Thermal Pools deals.

Located between Rotorua and Taupo off SH5, Waikite Valley Thermal Pools Springs n Spa officially opened in 1972, built by approximately 4000 hours of local voluntary labour and various fundraising efforts by the local community.

The pools are fed by Te Manaroa Spring, the largest single source of boiling water in New Zealand. The early setters devised a means to divert and cool the spring water, flowing it over a series of cascades to cool the water to suitable bathing temperatures.

There’s now a choice of six bathing options with temperatures between 30 and 41 degrees Celsius, including the original family friendly Settlers Pool, the Sit and Soak Pool, and the Garden and Pergola Pools, overlooking the Otamakokore stream and the Waikite Valley. There’s also private pools where you can control the temperature of your pool and enjoy the views.

Waimangu Volcanic Valley is the world’s youngest geothermal system, created by the volcanic eruption of Mount Tarawera in 1886. The valley is home to spectacular geothermal features like Frying Pan Lake, the world’s largest hot spring and Inferno Crater, a mysterious underwater geyser system which causes the lake levels to rise and fall, and overflow on a cycle. It is also the final resting place of the Pink and White Terraces, buried under the surface of Lake Rotomahana by the Tarawera eruption.
