The flight is for approximately one hour with a glass of bubbles / juice where we land.
Travel time to launch site takes about 15 minutes.
The launch site varies from day to day depending upon the prevailing wind.
Passenger to call for a weather check 45 minutes before pickup time.
The flight is carried out near Queenstown in the valley between the Remarkables Range and Coronet Peak with panoramic views of the mountains and lakes of the area.
Flights are at dawn so vary throughout the year, from 8:00/8:30AM pickup in mid winter (June/July) to 5:00/5:30AM in mid summer (Dec/Jan)
Allow 3 1/2 to 4 hrs for the complete experience (from pickup to return)
Dress appropriately for the season, bearing in mind that this is an outdoor activity. It is no colder at altitude than on the ground before take off.
Tramping boots or sports shoes are recommended. High heels and sandals are not suitable. Bring a hat.
Passengers will be standing for the duration of the flight.
Ballooning is weather dependent and we will only fly if weather conditions are suitable.
* If flight is cancelled by Sunrise Balloons due to unsuitable weather conditions (there is no charge) you may rebook for another day on a space available basis.

Who is this?
Sunrise Balloons is a family owned and operated company, which has been flying in the region since 1998. Owners Hugh & Maureen are supported by their son Carrick (Chief Pilot), daughter Kirsty (Operations & Bookings), son Graham (Swordfox) is our IT expert.
Our experienced pilots are CAA certified and flight tested annually.
As with any aircraft our balloons receive an annual check and Review of Airworthiness.
To make your flight as safe as possible we monitor weather conditions continually and if it is not suitable the flight is cancelled.
