Newton Heights Bed and Breakfast in Akaroa, New Zealand sits on the hill with spectacular views of the Akaroa harbour, village and surrounding hills. Akaroa is a town on the Banks Peninsula, southeast of Christchurch, New Zealand which is surrounded by natural wonders, wilderness meets the edges of this historical French settlement. Newton Heights is within a 5-minute walk down to the village with boutique shops, restaurants and the beach.

Newton Heights is the only modern centrally heated B&B in Akaroa. We offer rooms with lovely sea views and private bathrooms for our guests. King-sized beds with luxurious linen, velvet duvets, ensuring you have a great night’s sleep. Enjoy a quiet wine in our lovely outdoor area with an open fire, or sit on your own deck and immerse yourself in the peace & tranquillity. Soak in our spa and relax or head out and explore the lovely area of Banks Peninsula. In the morning, be treated to a fully cooked or continental breakfast. We source fresh local and our own homegrown ingredients and cater for all dietary requirements. Akaroa is a great place to do as much or as little as you like, a lovely place to unwind and relax.

Myself, Gail and my husband Brendon, welcome you to our lovely modern architecturally designed home furnished in an eclectic way. We have had several trips to France and have collected some treasures that give the house a pleasant feel. We love entertaining and enjoy having family & friends to stay. We see this as a unique opportunity for other people to enjoy our home, and we look forward to sharing it with you. Brendon and I both enjoy travel and exploring new countries, experiencing different food & cultures. Meeting new people from around New Zealand and around the world is something we look forward to.

Guests can take a boat trip out on the harbour, see the dolphins and birdlife, or indulge themselves at one of the local restaurants. There are lovely walks around the village, or if you have a car and can explore, there is Hinewai Reserve which has spectacular walks. Akaroa Heritage Park is a 10-minute drive and is an excellent spot for a picnic overlooking the harbour. There are great beaches at Okains & Le Bons Bay which are approximately a 20-minute drive. In addition to that, there is the Akaroa Beach on the eastern shore of Akaroa Harbour, where rare Hector’s dolphins swim. The Akaroa Museum includes 3 heritage buildings and chronicles the town’s development, especially its 19th-century British and French colonial history. The Giant’s House has terraced gardens and features colourful sculptures and mosaics.
